Apart from the large tourist stream, there is a Rhodope gorge, which is not inferior in its strangeness and charm, namely Chairsko,
It is located near Trigrad, and the journey from Sofia via Trakia highway is about 4 hours (about 240 km). It is about an hour less from Plovdiv.
This gorge is much less known and visited than Trigradsko, but it is worth seeing because it is unique in itself. The gorge of the Chairska River is part of the “Shabanitsa” reserve, and here nature pleasantly surprises us at every meter.
We will see (and pass under) a natural stone arch more than 10 meters high and named Prevaleti kamak. On the way through the gorge, we will also be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the nearby Chair Lakes, which are also worth visiting. When we look up, we see one of the famous Rhodope peaks – Boydalak.

You can also see the Chair Lakes, which are seven in total at an altitude of 1,400 meters. Near them is the hut of the same name, where you can support yourself during the walk. Mount Kaurchan, famous for its temple complex, is also nearby.
