These cross-cutting activities are intended to awaken interest in participation in collective projects that go beyond the academic field, and in which the residents are responsible for the design and implementation.

Specifically, and coinciding with the commemoration this month of the International Book Day, the Diego Muñoz Torrero de Cáceres Residence Hall is carrying out the project to encourage reading, with the aim of dedicating space to books in the residence hall and thus , resident students discover the charm of reading and provoke aesthetic taste, indicates the Board in a press release.

Within this project, suitable spaces have been set up to encourage reading animation with the necessary material means and disused furniture to favor and an exhibition of the Extremadura Reading Promotion Plan on the Extremadura comic ‘La boca del Lobo ‘, as well as the temporary loan of 25 copies of said book for residents and workers.

In this sense, with some of the volumes received and many others that existed in the residence, a virtual library and a book loan system have been created through Instagram and a Reading Club has been created that begins with the comic book chosen for the temporary exhibition.

Finally, to complete the proposal of activities within the animation of reading, the design of a bookmark focused on the theme of Saint George and the dragon has been offered, and in this way, it is intended to bring the local culture of Cáceres closer and edit the most original to serve as a gift to all residents.

New programs are currently being designed in university residences that will advance the training of resident students and that will have to do with the digital, technological and entrepreneurship fields. The objective is to provide more skills and competencies so that they improve their employability conditions when they finish their university stage.

The university residences dependent on the Junta de Extremadura offer places for university students, Higher Level Vocational Training Cycles and students of Special Regime Education (Higher Degree Training Cycles of Plastic Arts and Design and Higher Degree Cycles of Sports Teaching and Higher Studies in Design, Music and Dramatic Art). The places currently occupied in the four university residences of the Junta de Extremadura: Juan XXIII, Mario Roso de Luna, Muñoz Torrero and Complejo Educativo de Plasencia, are 290.
