The University of Salamanca (USAL) has decided “to put in preventive and temporary quarantine” to the colleges of Oviedo and Fray Luis de León waiting for “what is decided by the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Castilla y León”.
The academic institution has so decided after carrying out a massive screening of the 403 schoolboys in recent days and of the tracking work among the affected students.
As a first measure, The University established that the schoolchildren who have undergone the screening process should go to the online teaching system, “having had close contact with the first positives detected”, a measure that “had already been partially taken in the first weeks of October”, as Europa Press reports.
Now, the University has called the meetings of the Teaching Council and the Student Council in which it will report on this situation.
Since the opening of the academic year, the University has accumulated a total of 238 positives, “a figure significantly lower than that provided by other universities in the country,” he pointed out.
SOCIAL ACTIVITY
The number of people affected by the PDI and the PAS is “practically testimonial” as it does not exceed half a dozen cases between the two sectors. However, USAL has stressed that “all these infections have occurred during the development of social activities outside the university.”
On the other hand, he recalled that face-to-face activity in USAL centers is maintained with respect to the model that each one had adopted.
The Salamanca university authorities have insisted on the importance of the measures adopted to guarantee “a safe presence in the classrooms”, through the protocols that are being carried out since the beginning of the course.
Likewise, they have reiterated “the importance that all members of the university community collaborate in the personal security measures agreed upon by the health authorities, including with regard to meetings outside the university facilities, in which an increase in COVID-19 cases “.
