The new business incubator space in Buffalo has now officially opened. It is located in the competency center for bioinformatics and biosciences of the university on the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus and aims to promote start-ups in these areas.
UB President Satish Tripathi, funded in part by Empire State Development, said the room compliments the school’s mission.
“From health sciences to technology to small business support, this is where the new technology comes in, and this is where the university is making its greatest impact. Most of their technology comes from the UB and employs UB students as key staff in these small businesses. “”
The collaborative work environment has been set up to encourage collaboration between the startups and the program also gives entrepreneurs access to a fully equipped biomedical laboratory on site.
The university library’s incubator also gives new entrepreneurs access to the school’s student.
Alumni and faculty network through a mix of programs. The school also provides a team of mentors for each member of the incubator to help navigate the way to start a business.
Overall, the space offers up-and-coming companies options to meet their needs in an area of 42,000 square meters. The amenities range from a single desk on the open floor to a private office and a furnished office for up to 4 people.
