The presidency of the University of Balamand pointed out that “with great sadness and anguish, the University of Balamand mourns three of its students, who passed away at dawn today, Friday, February 24, as a result of a terrible traffic accident in Chekka, and the escape of those who caused this disaster.”
And she indicated in a statement, “As the university stands unable to express the extent of its grief over the horror of this tragedy, it extends its deepest condolences to the families of its murdered students, asking God to grant patience and solace to their loved ones, and to dwell them in His spacious gardens and have mercy on their souls.”
And the university presidency affirmed, “It will follow up with the security authorities the circumstances of this painful affliction, in order to achieve justice so that incidents of this kind do not recur,” calling for “a mass to be held for the comfort of their souls at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the Patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand.”
