The United States will be present at the 2021 Motocross of Nations

The 2007 Motocross of Nations, a US show of strength home in Budds Creek. And little Frenchies second, a feat.

The Motocross des Nations is nevertheless the event of the year in the small world of MX, in particular, and above all, for the Europe / USA clash. Let’s face it, that’s what everyone comes to see on this race! After the cancellation of the 2020 edition which, we remind you, was to take place in Ernée in France, a legitimate concern has hovered over the MX environment: the Americans, once unbeatable but now become mere candidates for the podium, will come back they? We know that their arrival costs a lot of money, the US is not the type to travel light, for no financial consideration. And the prestige of a victory is no longer assured, on the contrary, unlike the great years. However, Americans do not like to lose, a fortiori when you have to spend a lot of money for that … Some media no longer hesitate to ask for a boycott of the event in this state of affairs.

It is true that coming to Europe is complicated and expensive for the American team, which actually travels more than it receives. However, other nations that are much less financially solid succeed in doing so every year. It would therefore have been a shame and prejudicial for the event to deprive itself of the USA team. The good news is, it won’t! Mike Pelletier, the “AMA director of racing”, confirmed to RedBud that the United States will field a team for the Motocross des Nations, which will take place on September 25/26 in Mantova (Italy). It remains to be seen with which pilots.

Note that this will be an “exceptional” event, since the MXGP season will not be over. The teams could therefore veto the participation of their drivers if they are in battle for a title. Imagine a Motocross des Nations without Herlings, Cairoli, Gajser, Tom Vialle, Romain Febvre… In short, we are not there yet, but this edition is in any case doomed to be one that we will quickly forget with a little luck, especially since the site of Mantova, narrow, unspectacular, absolutely does not deserve to receive the most prestigious race of the year. It will be better in 2023, in Ernée! To be continued…
