The public debt ceiling in the United States was reached in mid-January and since then the country has been paying its bills only thanks to extraordinary measures. But if this ceiling is not raised, the United States could be in default of payment as of June 1, but President Joe Biden assures that the country will not come to that. To emerge from the crisis, the American administration needs a favorable vote from Congress. Negotiations continue.
