LBig power leaders gather this week in Bali, Indonesia for the annual G20 summit. Invited from Jakarta for an inaugural conference, American economist Jeffrey Sachs, professor at Columbia University and adviser to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, for the Sustainable Development Goals, severely contests the hegemony of the United States and echoes the criticisms formulated by rival powers, led by China and Russia. In the 1990s, Jeffrey Sachs advised former Eastern Bloc countries to join liberal globalization. However, since the late 2010s, his comments on US foreign policy have become edgier.
