The United States has warned of the risk of extremist attacks in connection with the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, world news agencies reported.
Extremists can take advantage of the tensions in society caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the interior ministry said.
It is noted that the anniversary of the terrorist attacks could serve as a catalyst for violence.
A statement from the US Department of Homeland Security said that extremists resorting to racial or ethnic violence could take advantage of the proliferation of COVID-19 variants, considering possible new restrictive measures as a reason for attacks.
It is stated that among the reasons for possible attacks are the stressors related to the pandemic, which increased social tensions.
