The United States has stepped up the transfer of tanks to Europe

The United States began to massively transfer weapons to Poland and Latvia as part of strengthening the eastern flank of NATO, according to Reuters.

American tanks and combat vehicles began arriving on Wednesday at the Dutch port of Vlissingen, to later head to Poland and Lithuania as part of efforts to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank.

“About 1,250 units of military equipment arrive at this port,” – said Colonel Robert Kellam, who oversees the operation from the American side.

Vehicles include M-1 Abrams tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.

In December, the United States had already transferred about 700 combat vehicles to Poland, including Abrams tanks. This was implemented as part of the Atlantic Resolve program. It began in 2014 and is aimed at strengthening the American presence in Europe. As part of the operation, some parts of the US Army send separate units to Europe, which are deployed in the countries of NATO’s eastern flank.
