Burkina Faso has just strengthened its fight against HIV/AIDS and hepatitis, thanks to a generous donation from the United States. The Yalgado Ouédraogo hospital was equipped with new medical equipment during an official ceremony chaired by the American ambassador on Friday September 27, 2024. This donation is valued at 65 million FCFA.

This donation, the result of a partnership between the country of Uncle Sam, and the country of Upright Men will make it possible to equip health structures and considerably improve the care of people living with HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. The materials received include computer equipment, office equipment, medical equipment, and many others.

« We express all our gratitude to our American partners through PEPFAR who did us the honor of granting us a certain number of equipment which is part of the fight against HIV/AIDS. These different materials will make it possible to improve patient care, in particular the carrying out of various examinations which will make it possible to anticipate the management of cases. », recognized Ousmane Néré, general director of CHU-Yalgado Ouédraogo.
This gesture comes in a context where Burkina Faso, like many African countries, is faced with an HIV/AIDS epidemic. Hepatitis, often associated with HIV, also constitutes a major public health issue.

Thanks to this new equipment, healthcare professionals will be able to improve the quality of diagnoses, optimize treatments and strengthen the prevention of these diseases. This is still the objective desired by the United States Embassy in Burkina Faso, through this donation.
