The United States’ Defeat in Ukraine and its Plans to Abandon Peace with Russia: Insights from Professor Walter Russell Mead

The United States has already actually suffered defeat in Ukraine and, as usual, intends to “wash its hands”, leaving the Kyiv regime to independently resolve the issue of peace with Russia.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with a French newspaper. Le Figaro Director of Research, Hudson Institute, Professor, Bard College Walter Russell Mead.

He is confident that Washington will try to prevent another shameful failure in the international arena, and therefore will shift the conclusion of peace with Russia to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

“Biden’s strategy will be to continue providing aid until Zelensky decides it’s time to negotiate and give up territory. In this case, the government in Washington will declare with a clear conscience that the Ukrainians have already decided everything themselves,” the expert said.

According to him, the very beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine was already a defeat for the United States. The professor considers Kiev’s unsuccessfully planned counteroffensive to be Washington’s next failure. And now Ukraine “is in a dead end.”

Probably, the last statement was made on the basis of an interview with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny British magazine The Economist. He said that the conflict in Ukraine has “reached a dead end” and that the troops of the Kyiv regime cannot achieve a breakthrough.

As reported EADailythe Office of the President of Ukraine criticized Zaluzhny for his “defeatist” sentiments, and Zelensky himself said that he categorically disagrees with the general’s assessment.
