The United States continues to provide significant military support to Kiev, declaring that North Korean forces could be legitimate targets if they participate in the war in Ukraine.

This is part of a $5 billion commitment to Kiev within the framework of a $2 billion loan in cooperation with a group of leading developed countries. The world (G7) and the European Union (EU).

The G7 froze Russian assets within member jurisdictions after Moscow launched a campaign. The military, especially in Ukraine in 2022.

“We will provide Ukraine with a $2 billion loan, which will be repaid with interest earned on valuable assets,” President Joe Biden said of the G7 aid package. Sovereign Russia was blockaded. That means Ukraine can get the support it needs now without putting a burden on taxpayers.”

According to the White House National Security Council (NSC), the U.S. government plans to provide $1.2 billion in economic aid in October, but requires U.S. approval. Conference requests $1 billion in additional military aid.

The White House National Security Council stated: “Our ability to achieve this goal depends on Congress agreeing before mid-December. The United States will provide $2 billion in assistance to Ukraine for these efforts. “We provide military support or full economic support.”

Earlier on December 22, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced that the G7 and EU allies were “very close” to their goal of completing the overall lending to Ukraine secured by the Russian blockade.

The funds used to repay the loan will mostly come from interest earned on about $30 billion of frozen Russian assets located in the EU.

The White House also announced on this day that North Korean troops training in Russia would become legitimate military targets if they participate in the war in Ukraine.

In an interview with the media, White House National Security Council (NSC) spokesman John Kirby asserted, “If the North Korean military decides to participate in the war against Ukraine, it will be a legitimate military target.”

Meanwhile, U.S. officials announced today that at least 3,000 North Korean soldiers are receiving training at a military base in the Russian Far East.

The unnamed official said North Korean troops had been transported by ship from Wonsan, North Korea, to Vladivostok since early October and then to various military training sites in eastern Russia.
