WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Three hostages kidnapped in Haiti last October have been released, State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Monday, adding that the United States was continuing its efforts to secure the release of the hostages still being held captive.

A missionary group comprising 16 Americans and a Canadian had been kidnapped by gang members after visiting an orphanage in the Caribbean state, which has been beset by heightened violence since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July and a earthquake in August.
