The United States claims that Ukraine was behind the murder of Darya Dugina

is New York Times who is behind the news on Wednesday.

The newspaper writes that US intelligence believes parts of the Ukrainian government approved the car bomb attack outside Moscow on August 20.

Unnamed US officials told the paper that the US played no role in the attack, neither providing information nor other support.

They also say they were unaware of the murder plans in advance and would have opposed the attack if they were asked for advice.

– Obviously nothing to do with the explosion

Darja Dugina was killed in the car bomb. She is the daughter of right-wing nationalist and extremist ideologue Aleksandr Dugin.

Russian intelligence has always claimed that Ukraine was behind the assassination, which the Ukrainian authorities have denied. Mykhailo Podoljak, close adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, was clear in August:

– Ukraine obviously has nothing to do with the explosion, because we are not a criminal state, and especially not a terrorist state, like Russia is, Podoljak said, according to the DPA.

Ukrainian authorities believed that the FSB, the Russian intelligence service, was itself behind the attack. The FSB itself pointed to several Ukrainians.

Ukraine still denies it is behind the attack, according to the New York Times.

Putin thought the father was the target

Russian President Vladimir Putin came out tough after the attack. In August Putin wrote that Dugina served the people and the homeland, demonstrating what it means to be a Russian patriot.

– An ugly and brutal criminal act took the life of Darya Dugina, a skilled and talented person with a real Russian heart, she wrote in a message to Dugina’s father.

At the same time, both Putin and other sources said that his father, Aleksandr Dugin, was the real target of the attack.

The explosion occurred in the Odintsovo district, located in the Moscow Oblast. The attack occurred after Dugina and her father returned from a cultural festival in separate cars. Dugina is said to have decided at the last minute to take her father’s Toyota Land Cruiser, while his father was driving another car.

Like her father, Darya Dugina expressed strong support for the war in Ukraine. She worked for the Russian state media and is referred to by Putin as a journalist, war reporter and philosopher.
