This was stated by the leader of VMRO Krasimir Karakachanov to Channel 3, specifying that by the end of next week it will be clear who the people will be. He did not deny that he and Valery Simeonov will most likely enter the MC, defining such a development as logical. When asked who will replace them in the party, he answered: “You caught me off guard.”
Karakachanov also explained that the coalition did not talk about a specific number of ministries, but he believes that the “United Patriots” should have more than four ministries. When asked if he would get used to being addressed as “Mr. Deputy Prime Minister”, he replied: “It has not been discussed whether I will become Deputy Prime Minister, so I don’t know if I will have to get used to such an address.”
Regarding the prospect of becoming the Minister of Defense and how NATO would accept this step, Karakachanov categorically answered that it was not NATO who voted in the elections, but the Bulgarian citizens, and we are not electing a NATO government, but Bulgaria, which is a sovereign state. “The so-called Euro-Atlantic values recognize the right to have whatever values you want, as long as they do not contradict the law and do not violate the rights of citizens,” he added. Karakachanov emphasized that he does not see a problem with a person of his convictions being the Minister of Defense and the only problem at the moment is that it is not clear who will be the Minister of Defense.
“The area of interest for the United Patriots is all branches of the executive branch through which the problems that the public expects to be solved can be solved. We have many departments for which we have ideas already laid out in the general program, as well as people who would be useful. Why not in agriculture, ecology, economy, education…” stated the leader of VMRO, repeating again that no talks were held which ministries the Patriots will receive.
On the topic of the Bulgarian army, Karakachanov commented that it has potential, but for 25-27 years it has been the subject of a constant pogrom, which also applies to military intelligence. “The last blow to our military intelligence, which was our best intelligence service, was delivered in the previous term by the then minister of defense and by our previous president, who, 27 years after the end of communism, played decommunizers of the Bulgarian security services “, he was emphatic.
When asked if Sultanka Petrova will be deputy minister of labor and social policy, Karakachanov replied that he intends to propose her.
Regarding the contracts for the purchase of green energy from RES, the leader of VMRO stated that they should be renegotiated because there are outright frauds. “RES, which did not produce energy at all, sold it at inflated prices. All improper partners of the state and NEK must be removed,” he added.
