The Crescent Star Party (PBB) will declare its support for the chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in 2024 presidential election. The UN will communicate with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding his support for Prabowo.
“I think that the UN has had a good relationship with Pak Jokowi, and God willing, we will communicate our decision to support Pak Prabowo with the President,” said UN Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra at the UN Headquarters, Kalibata, South Jakarta, Monday (17/7) /2023).
Yusril said that communication with Jokowi would be carried out in the near future. He hopes that there will be a common view between his party and Jokowi.
“Within the past few days (communication with Jokowi), hopefully before the 30th there will be communication with the President. The Secretary General has also asked for the President’s time so that there is a common view on this matter, because after all so far the good relationship between the UN and Jokowi has been well established. long time,” he said.
Furthermore, Yusril revealed his party’s reasons for supporting Prabowo as the 2024 presidential candidate. According to him, Prabowo is a nationalist figure.
“We choose the one that is more national for us, actually reaches more of the diverse Indonesian people than the other candidates,” he said.
For that reason, said Yusril, there are similarities in views between his party and Prabowo. He said that communication with Prabowo was going well.
“This shared view has actually been around for a long time. Because in the 2014 presidential election we supported Pak Prabowo, but we didn’t support the 2019 presidential election, because at that time the negotiations were not complete,” he said.
“Indeed, at that time Pak Prabowo sent Pak Sandi, but somehow it didn’t arrive. Now we are negotiating directly with Pak Prabowo, I spoke directly with him and even talked face to face. So there are similarities and he responded positively. I think that was a good response ,” he added.
UN Will Declare Support for Prabowo as Presidential Candidate for 2024
The United Nations has determined the direction of its support for the 2024 presidential election. The UN will support Gerindra’s presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, on 30 July.
“God willing, Sunday July 30 2023 (declaration of support for Prabowo),” UN Secretary General Afriansyah Noor told journalists, Sunday (16/7).
The Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) said the declaration was made during the UN’s 25th Birthday (Harlah) event. Afriansyah said the event would be held in Jakarta.
“We will commemorate the 25th UN Day and declare support for Prabowo Subianto,” he said.
“The plan is in Jakarta, we will confirm the location soon,” he added.
