Today, the Association des Amis Réunis de Blancpignon no longer has the status of a festival committee but continues to play its role and hopes that this will continue for a long time. “By statute, Régine Laffargue is president and I vice-president and treasurer, explains Jeannot Mancel. These are just titles. In fact, there is a collective of seven people in and around the office, a group of volunteers to set up the actions. But today we need to find relays. »
Omelet time
The reunited Friends of Blancpignon are indeed struggling to mobilize new volunteers to continue the adventure. “Our association is solid, continues Jeannot Mancel, but we are getting older and we have just spent two years, during which, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we did nothing. We hope, with the return of our appointments, that people will be encouraged to join us. »
The first appointment is set for Monday April 18, 2022 with the tradition of the Easter omelet. “We are a bit in the dark regarding public participation, after two years of absence, says Régine Lafargue. We still feel that people want something to happen. Unlike other neighborhoods, we offer an omelette for a fee. But in fact, it’s a real meal that we organize. »
It costs 10 euros and can be reserved on 06 60 38 95 83. For Jeannot Mancel, this Easter omelet can mark the renewal of the association. “We hope to meet people there who will want to get involved in the life of the district. »
Residential area
Even if Blancpignon, like other districts of the city, have evolved a lot over the last decades. “In the past, when we went to Blancpignon, we didn’t go to Anglet, remembers Régine Lafargue. Then there were a lot of population movements. Many houses have been sold. It has become a residential area. We are looking for the right method to bring people into our association, so that they bring new ideas, new initiatives, to bring the neighborhood to life. »
In the meantime, the Friends of Blancpignon are thinking, beyond the omelette on Easter Monday, of the Blancpignon party on Saturday August 6, 2022. One of the last neighborhood parties in Anglet. “It will be a dancing méchoui, recalls Jeannot Mancel. For a long time, there have been no more stands or rides, but we are committed to preserving this summer tradition with, the next day, a large garage sale at Place de la Bécasse. »
