The United Arab Emirates is the first in the world to achieve 100% coverage of Covid-19 vaccination

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the first country in the world to declare 100% vaccination coverage. In an attempt to stop the spread of the virus, wearing masks indoors and at public events is still mandatory, and a negative Covid-19 test is required before entering the country.

This week in the UAE began with the news that the country has achieved 100% vaccination coverage, or that all those who deserved a dose of Covid-19 had been vaccinated.

At the same time, it is reported that more than 90% of the population has completed the vaccination process. The announcement was disseminated by the UAE National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management on Twitter.

Despite being 100% vaccinated, masks must be worn indoors as well as when attending events.

On Thursday, December 2, the first case of omicron was reported in the country. It is registered for a woman who has entered the country from a region of South Africa. A person who has been diagnosed with the new strain of the virus has been completely vaccinated. The national airline Emirates has partially suspended air traffic with South Africa pending further information.

At the same time as reports of a complete vaccination of a company over 18 years of age, the UAE authorities have announced that they will start offering a third dose of the vaccine to those who have been in Russia for at least six months since the second Pfizer-BioNTech receiving a dose of Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccine. The Health Service has also announced that the booster will be available to those who have been vaccinated with Sinopharm.

Approximately 70 positive cases of Covid-19 are recorded in the UAE every day, and the number of cases reported on 21 October has not exceeded 100.
