The 1.30pm edition of Tg1 broadcast regularly, in defiance of the strike called by Usigrai. The boycott of the right-wing union Unirai decided on Friday has had its first effects. Also on air is the Rai2 news at 1pm and Rainews which is mainly offering sports reports. The journalists of the union led by are at work Francesco Palesethe right-wing acronym blessed by the minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and desired by the CEO and future CEO Giampaolo Rossi, and the hosts against the protest proclaimed by Usigrai. Foreign services broadcast, such as live broadcasts on the war in the Middle East, and sports reports after the weekend’s championship matches. Duration: between 20 and 30 minutes, like a normal edition of the news and not “in a reduced form”. At the end, the press release was read with the reasons for the strike, which was however failed by the Unirai union as it had assured. And the company’s response.
The Usigrai statement
On the decision to broadcast the Rai 1 and 2 news programmes, Usigrai replies with a statement: “In order to attempt to boycott our strike – which the vast majority of Rai journalists joined – the directors of Tg1 and Tg2 with in an anti-union spirit, they decided to broadcast the 1.30pm and 1pm editions with unusually long reports and connections to achieve the greatest possible duration (in any case shorter than the usual one). The truth is that by doing so they almost completely canceled entire topics and entire topics news such as news and economics. A deception to the citizens to mask the failure of the boycott – we read in the union note – In order to give the impression that the strike had failed, the directors of Tg1 and Tg2 concentrated the few at work in one edition by blowing up the others. So far, for example, on Tg2, out of a scheduled schedule of 135 minutes, just 26 minutes have been broadcast on Tg1, out of 186 minutes, only 28. Evidently, we are not the ones spreading fake news.” concludes the note.
Macheda (Usigrai): “We will check for any violations”
Secretary Usigrai, Daniele Macheda, says: “We will verify if there have been no violations of the right to strike. We will see what product they manage to produce. If they are satisfied with incomplete or summary newspapers that do not meet journalistic criteria. We will verify with the cdr what happens, there is no It’s no concern. We know that it’s an attempt that the company was making. The important thing is to understand how many colleagues have joined the strike. I don’t know the membership data yet”, explains Macheda, underlining that “the right to strike or not going on strike must be protected for everyone”, but it is not acceptable to “instrumentally attempt to boycott it”. And the president of the Fnsi, Vittorio Di Trapani, adds: “Freedom also belongs to those who do not want to strike, but it is illegitimate for a minority to organize itself with shift changes and make itself available to try to make a strike fail. I would also like to say that if a minority manages to broadcast an edition of the news it only shows that the majority is redundant. If anyone in the future proposes redundancies in Rai, he will know who to call. There is no harm being done to the union but to the entire editorial team.”
On another point Macheda insists: “Parties out of Rai. We need to make a law, perhaps the Media Freedom Act will help us, a European regulation which clearly says that public services must not have the control of governments”, continues the secretary Unirai, specifying that “today there is a pervasive system, everyone’s closeness is needed – says Macheda – This strike goes beyond Rai, but it is a problem of freedom of the press and the information structure in Italy. Things have happened recently that do not give us hope for how things will go in Italy. The Prime Minister Melons has time to define the service of Report on how public money is spent on migrant centers in Albania, a lynching of the Albanian prime minister and the Albanian people. I have not heard a word from the company in defense of Ranucci’s program.”
Ranucci: “Rai has gotten worse in the last year”
For the conductor of Report “Since the approval of the Renzi law onwards, the situation at Rai has worsened. It has gotten worse especially in the last year: I don’t remember a prime minister who defined a public service investigation as a lynching, like the one on the immigration agreement with Albania – he comments Siegfried Frogs at the press conference – The paradox is that while the prime minister defined it as a lynching, two polls in Albania believed that the investigation was truthful”.
The president of the Fnsi, Vittorio Di Trapani cites the report Reporters Without Borders: “Italy has moved into the problematic zone of the classification on freedom of information. Today’s strike is an act of courage. We are not just talking about freedom of the press and journalists, there is an attack on constitutional rights. “It’s not an attack on Rai journalists – he adds – they don’t just attack theAgiTomorrow or Report. It is a message given to all liberties and anyone who wishes to disagree. This is happening and for this reason we need to protest”. Di Trapani concludes: “A minority is asked to make itself available to try to broadcast the news and the minority makes itself available, there is an attack on constitutional freedoms, which it doesn’t just concern journalists as the president of the ANM says today in an interview. This is why I will be at the ANM Congress to represent the Federation”.
