The famous Skoda Superb is the closest relative of the VW Passat. This Czech model is one of the inexpensive representatives of its segment and a popular family car. The car even once had a unique feature that increased practicality.
The Skoda Superb Mk4 recently debuted. On this occasion in Motor1 remembered a unique feature that the second generation model had since 2008. We are talking about a “double” trunk lid that could be opened in different ways.
Skoda Superb 2 received special hinges that could be switched at the request of the owner. Thus, the trunk could be opened like a classic sedan or together with the rear window – like a hatchback.
And all this in one car. Designers have put effort into developing this system. But it turned out to be difficult, although quite practical in certain situations.
This decision was abandoned in the subsequent third and new fourth generations. The Skoda Superb retained the silhouette of the sedan, but received a trunk door from the hatchback – now it always opens with the glass. And for the most practical buyers they offer the Skoda Superb Combi station wagon.
OBOZ.UA has already reported that BMW is preparing a new, most affordable model of the next generation.
