Coupe de France, 3rd round: Papus’ Juventus (R2) – Union Saint-Jean FC (R1): Sunday September 15, 3 p.m. Gironis 3 stadium in Toulouse.
The two clubs started the season with the same scenario, a victory in the Coupe de France and a defeat in the Occitanie championship. Their ambition will be to qualify for the 4th round, and get back on a positive dynamic.
In the Coupe de France, Papus’ Juventus beat Brax JS (0-3), while USJFC won (0-9) on the pitch in Grenade. Last weekend, during the first day of the Occitanie championship, both teams suffered defeat. In R2 at home, Papus’ Juventus lost (1-2) to Mazamet, and in R1, USJFC, away to Rodéo FC, was beaten (2-1). Both teams will be keen to get back to winning ways. Against Rodéo, in a balanced match, USJFC lacked control in the conclusion of its opportunities, which Rodéo was able to do in the second half to snatch victory in the final moments (88th) of the game. To hope to get through this 3rd round, for coach Grégory Sorroche, USJFC will have to be better inspired in its actions: “We must correct the errors of the match against Rodéo. In particular, show more efficiency in attack, greater control of the game, and better score management. Rodéo was able to take advantage of our errors, 2 goals that we practically offered to the opponent. It’s a shame to have let 3 points slip away. This Coupe de France match is an opportunity to react, to pull ourselves together. To continue the adventure, we must find our level of play, that of R1 and impose it.”
