Even in the 46th week of the year, the uniformed officers paid particular attention to the screening of drunk or intoxicated drivers, as those who participate in traffic in this way represent a high risk factor for safe traffic. Out of 1,347 drunkenness checks, 8 ended with police action. 7 criminal proceedings were initiated due to drunkenness, in all cases the driver’s license was involved, and 1 intoxicated cyclist was reported to have violated the rules.
It should be emphasized that driving while intoxicated or intoxicated may also result in court proceedings. We also draw your attention to the fact that alcohol, even in small amounts, causes physiological effects that do not allow safe driving. Never get behind the wheel while intoxicated or in a vehicle driven by an visibly intoxicated person! Do not allow your family member, relative, friend or acquaintance to drive while intoxicated!
In the last week, the uniformed officers took action against several drivers who were driving on the road without a driver’s license. 9 reports were filed for the offense of driving without a license, and 6 drivers were detained and brought to court in an expedited procedure.
The offense of driving without a license is committed by a driver who participates in road traffic without having a driving license at all, or whose license was previously revoked by the authority, or is not valid for the given vehicle category. In the same way, a driver who allows the driving of a mechanically propelled vehicle to a person who does not have a driving license commits an offence. Driving without a license can also be punished by imprisonment.
If the driver does not have a driver’s license because he was previously banned from driving by the authority and the ban period has not yet expired, driving while the ban is in effect is a criminal offense and is punishable by imprisonment.
It is important to highlight from last week’s data that there were six personal injury accidents in our county, in which four pedestrians were injured. Three of the four pedestrian run-overs occurred at designated pedestrian crossings, and in each case the passerby was innocent.
We would also like to draw the attention of drivers to the fact that they must give priority to pedestrians at the designated pedestrian crossing; it should only be approached with extreme caution and at such a speed that the vehicle can – if necessary – stop in front of the zebra crossing. Pay attention to pedestrians, pay attention to each other! Of course, pedestrians must also pay attention in order to preserve their own physical health and the security of their property. They are not allowed to step onto the roadway unexpectedly and are obliged to cross by the shortest route. Before stepping onto the zebra crossing, look carefully and make sure you can cross the road safely!
Traffic safety is extremely important for all of us. Undisciplined road users who violate the rules endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives, physical integrity, and property of others. Let’s not risk it!
… so that everyone can get home!
