The Theater School of the International University of Andalusia (UNIA), directed by Javier Yagüe, stage director and playwright, and held at the Antonio Machado de Baeza headquarters (Jaén), closes the 2021 edition with 87 students, in which has meant the return to its usual calendar in the first weeks of July.
For the director of the School of Theater, it has been “an exciting edition”, in which “expectations have exceeded expectations”, both in the workshops and in the performing arts exhibition UNIAescenaBaeza.
Yagüe has highlighted the increase in the number of students compared to fifty last year and as a novelty he has pointed out that “for the first time, students have passed a pre-selection due to the high demand for participation in any of the courses.”
Another of the data regarding the students, to which the director of the School of Theater has referred, is their origin from “almost all the communities of the Spanish State”, which shows the “growing projection that the courses acquire year after year. anus”.
He added that “the faculty of this edition has contributed to its success”, since in addition to its professional category, to its credit there are prestigious recognitions such as the National Theater Award or Max awards in various categories, which “undoubtedly they have awakened in the students the desire to approach Baeza to share that knowledge that teachers can contribute to them “.
Finally, he has expressed “the will of the UNIA to facilitate access to the Theater School and that no one will be excluded for financial reasons” with the award of between two and three scholarships per workshop. Similarly, he has emphasized the effort to develop the workshops “with maximum security and the application of the corresponding health protocols.”
In this edition, six workshops have been held, in the morning or afternoon. Regarding UNIAescenaBaeza, Yagüe pointed out that this year’s program showed “various currents of contemporary theater and dealt with topics that have interested them because they are at the center of the social debate.” “What has originated, adds, a massive answer of the city of Baeza and that the seats of the different spectacles have been exhausted”, has said Yagüe.
UNIAescenaBaeza has offered five shows in this edition: Autumn in April, by the company La Belloch Teatro; He gave no one poison in laughter, from the Impromadrid company, and Felicidad, from the Podemos Gato company; Chucho, from the La Zafirina company, and Castrapo, from the Os castaway Theater company.
