However, things didn’t work out as expected, with the Portuguese manager deciding to sell De Bruyne to Wolfsburg in 2014 after he made just nine appearances for the Londoner in all competitions.
Heamou revealed the incident to TalkSport in 2021, saying he wanted to keep De Bruyne.
“He wants to move. He wanted to go to Germany where he had been on loan and he was happy it was his decision. He wanted a lot. And he made it work,” Mourinho said.
Until recently on Oct. 30, Obi Mikel, former Chelsea general, revealed De Bruyne’s move away from Stamford Bridge while chatting with team legend John Terry. The Blues on the podcast said that the Belgian national team player had a fight with a teammate.
“He was angry, he was angry when Samuel Eto’o went and shouted at him. They fought on the training field because he didn’t train as seriously as Samuel Eto’o wanted. They fought on the field,” the former Nigeria international said.
“We didn’t think that De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, who played for Chelsea at the same time, would go as far as they do today. But credit must be given to them. They have come a long way.”
