The Underground Youth to Perform in Riga with New Album Nostalgia’s Glass

On Saturday, April 27th, cult Manchester band in the post-punk genre “The Underground Youth” will return to Riga with a new album and a concert at the Noass art center.

The group Underground Youth was founded in 2008 as a solo project by singer, guitarist and songwriter Craig Dyer, publishing the first songs on the Bandcamp website. In addition, he used movie scenes to which he added his own music and posted these videos on YouTube. As a result of all of this, The Underground Youth gained a huge fan base before they had even begun to seriously work as a “live” rock band.

It was only in 2012 that Dyer assembled a full band, including his wife Olja Dyer on drums. Over the past ten years, The Underground Youth have toured widely, from Europe to China, so it’s no surprise that the band’s increasingly popular debut album features have sold out very quickly. In Riga, this team played almost exactly two years ago and left a great impression – those who saw them for the first time will definitely want to do it again. In addition, they will also have something new to announce, because last August “The Underground Youth” released their eleventh studio album, Nostalgia’s Glass.

The style of “The Underground Youth” can be described as dark post-punk with shoelaces and psychedelic rock influences. Dyer himself has mentioned that artists such as Bob Dylan, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Cure, The Soft Moon, Velvet Underground and Cocteau Twins have influenced his music.

The special guests of the event are the Czech group “Orient”, whose sound is based on an electronic mix of psychedelic rock and post-punk with a touch of progressive and krautrock. Orient started out as a trio exploring today’s contemporary electronic music trends. Over the years, they have found their sound, and currently the group already has five musicians who play in energetic concerts – harmony vocals, wind instruments, percussion, synthesizers and guitar ,” that’s how the organizers of the concert call them.
