PARIS – French football club Paris St. Germain is reportedly not counting on the Brazilian Neymar and three other players in the new season.
According to information from the DPA agency, referring to the French newspaper L’Equipe, they were informed directly by coach Luis Enrique and the club’s sports director Luis Campos. A few days ago, Neymar informed the club management that he wanted to leave the Park of Princes.
The 31-year-old winger arrived in Paris from Barcelona in 2017 for a record 222 million euros, and although he has a valid contract with PSG until the summer of 2025, he reportedly wants to return to Barcelona. However, his former teammate and current “Blaugranas” coach Xavi Hernandez does not think that he would fit into his team. On the other hand, Neymar’s father Neymar da Silva Santos denied his son’s departure from PSG.
“I can’t confirm news that doesn’t exist,” he said in response to the Brazilian portal Premier League Brasil.
Argentine Lionel Messi left Paris after the season and the club is in dispute with Kylian Mbappé regarding the contract. The French forward has a contract until 2024, when he wants to head to Real Madrid as a free agent. However, PSG does not intend to let him leave for free, and the 24-year-old gunner has already rejected the proposal to extend the contract and the possibility of its early termination.
Paris has therefore excluded him from first team training and threatens to leave him sitting on the bench for the entire season. It is therefore possible that not one of the former star trio of Messi, Neymar, Mbappé will appear in the Paris jersey in the new year.
In addition to Neymar, the list of unwanted players includes midfielder Marco Verratti, forward Hugo Ekitike, defender Juan Bernat, and there is also talk of the departure of German forward Julian Draxler, who spent last season on loan at Benfica Lisbon. Slovak defender Milan Škriniar came to PSG in the summer after working in Inter Milan.
