The Uncertain Future of ‘Inside Today’ Following the Departure of Director Marco Louwerens – Johan Derksen Raises Concerns

Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen will soon return to television with Inside todayBut how long will that program last? According to Derksen, there is a bomb under the show due to the departure of ‘little director’ Marco Louwerens…

Johan Derksen: ‘Today Inside in danger’

‘De Snor’ finds the latter ‘very sad news’, he says in a video item of VI: “Marco brought the human element within the management of Talpa. They are all somewhat cool managers, businessmen… and Marco was the human factor. Within our program he was the stable factor. We had to work with him for twenty years and it was no fun for him. We have rather inflated egos. We have great chemistry at the table, but otherwise we have nothing in common. And all three of us even have different opinions about how the program should be filled in.”

And that gives ‘once, twice a year’ the necessary commotion, according to Derksen… “Then Marco was always there who arranged it, with a hard hand and the merciless mail, if the whiskey had fallen well, or with a soft hand . But he always managed to get those three egocentric frogs back into that wheelbarrow. If there was anything, you could call Marco day and night and he would come. Then there was speaking and then it was out of the world again. And that is now falling away from us.”

“We want Marco”

This means that the stability of the program is wavering: “Traditionally, we have a riot twice a year. I can’t imagine that if Mr. Frans Klein (the successor to ‘director’, ed.) comes to us to solve the problem, that the problem will not get bigger. He doesn’t know us. He doesn’t know our manual. And we don’t want Frans Klein at all, we want Marco. That is why I am afraid: if a riot starts now, whether we will continue… I think that John (de Mol, ed.) has not thought this through properly.”
