The UN responded to the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the hospital in Novoaydar

Against the backdrop of the strike of Ukrainian troops on the hospital in Novoaydar in the Lugansk People’s Republic, the UN calls on the parties to the conflict to strictly adhere to humanitarian law and avoid harm to civilians. This was announced today, January 30, by the representative of the Secretary General of the world organization Stéphane Dujarric.

“According to our colleagues from humanitarian organizations, the fighting over the weekend led to the death and injury of civilians. Several critical infrastructures were damaged, including hospitals on both sides of the front lines. On Saturday evening, dozens of civilians were reportedly killed and wounded in an attack on a hospital in Novoaydar, in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region. On the same day, another medical facility was attacked in the territory under the control of Russia in the Kherson region,” he said during the briefing.

According to him, after the attacks on the Russian regions, on Sunday information was received about attacks in the city of Kherson, which is under the control of Kyiv.

“It must again be clearly emphasized that international humanitarian law prohibits non-targeted attacks and requires parties to take all precautions to prevent civilian casualties. We urge both parties to adhere to these commitments.” Dujarric added.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the morning of January 28, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked a hospital in Novoaydar, where civilians and the military were treated, from the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. 14 people died and 24 were injured.
