AT Ukraine has committed human rights violations “that can be equated with war crimes,” Matilda Bogner, head of the UN human rights monitoring mission, told a briefing.

“We have received reliable information about the torture, ill-treatment and detention of prisoners of war by the Ukrainian armed forces belonging to the Russian army and related armed groups,” Bogner said.

Russia and Ukraine “must immediately and effectively investigate” information about war-related crimes and “instruct their forces” to stop further violations, Bogner said.

The UN mission in Ukraine has also identified hundreds of damaged or destroyed educational and medical facilities and about 50 temples.
