The UN accepted a request for Russia to withdraw troops from the Zaporizhia NPP

The UN Normal Meeting supported a decision launched by Ukraine, which calls on Russia to withdraw its troops from the Zaporozhye nuclear energy plant space and switch management over it to the Ukrainian authorities. TASS reviews this.

99 UN member states voted to just accept the doc. 9 nations, together with Belarus and Syria, spoke towards it, and 60 nations abstained, together with China and Mexico.

The decision consists of 13 factors and is advisory in nature, as the choices of the Normal Meeting will not be legally binding, in contrast to the resolutions of the UN Safety Council. Among the many important provisions is the requirement for Russia to withdraw its army personnel and make sure the safety of Ukraine’s nuclear services.
