Community Party ensure support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 election.
This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Ummat Party Syuro Council Amien Rais at the closing of the Ummat Party’s first national working meeting (Rakernas), in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/2).
“So, earlier regarding the president, his name was directly mentioned Anies Baswedan,” said Amien.
Amien announced this together with the general chairman of the Ummat Party, Ridho Rahmadi, who was also on stage.
Amien said that of the three potential presidential candidates for the Ummat Party, namely Anies, Prabowo Subianto and Gatot Nurmantyo. It was the former Governor of DKI who was most enthusiastic about receiving a proposal from the Ummat Party.
“Indeed, Mas Anies Baswedan was also the most enthusiastic. Pak Gatot was no less enthusiastic. But we have heard that Pak Gatot is not yet enthusiastic,” he said.
On this occasion the Ummat Party also declared a split from Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 election.
The decision was taken after Amien Rais’ messages to Prabowo were ignored.
Initially, Amien invited Prabowo to attend the Ummat Party National Working Meeting. However, Prabowo is said to have not responded to the invitation.
“Okay, so each of us, I always pray for Prabowo in the good shape, I hope that what you aspire to achieve, you want to become president,” said Amien.
Amien claims that the General Chair of the Gerindra Party only has the courage to become a presidential candidate in 2024 if he gets the blessing of President Joko Widodo.
“However, as long as it is supported by Jokowi. So if I see it, it’s actually a bit strange, yes, it’s God who is in power,” he said.
Prabowo once formed a coalition with Amien Rais in the 2019 election. At that time Amien was still a member of the National Mandate Party. Amien became one of Prabowo’s campaigners in the 2019 presidential election.
