- What is the best way to take care of your smartphone battery?
- The main advice includes optimized charging and appropriate battery care
The battery is still a frequently discussed element of modern phones. How to properly care for it so that it lasts as long as possible (and in ideal condition)? And what conditions or behavior should be avoided in order not to unnecessarily degrade the battery?
Don’t miss: Charging your phone overnight? A former Apple employee revealed the harsh truth
Battery not only in the phone
A former Apple employee who goes by the name @hitomidocameraroll on TikTok offered some advice and tips on how to best take care of your smartphone battery. What does he advise?
First of all, it is necessary to remind that, in general, it is recommended to take care of the ideal conditions of lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries. Do not expose them to severe frosts or excessive temperatures. This is not only about batteries in phones, but also in smart watches, tablets, wireless headphones or laptops.
In order to ensure the longest possible condition when using your phone – and therefore a long life – it is strictly recommended to charge the battery to a maximum of 80% and not to discharge it below 20-30%.
How to ensure longevity?
In the TikTok video, the former Apple employee makes the following points in particular:
- Do not charge the battery to 100%
- Don’t charge overnight – and if you do, turn on optimized charging
- Charge to 80% – the new Apple Watch or iPhone 15 offer strict limits, for example
- Turn off background activity for some apps – the ones you don’t need
- Disable or limit location services for some apps
- Reduce the brightness of the screen and be sure to set the automatic mode
- Turn off Raise to Wake
- Set auto-lock to 1 minute
- Turn off “Hey Siri” if you don’t need it
- Turn off Bluetooth when you don’t need it
- Turn off ProMotion (increased dynamic display frequency) – iPhone Pro models that support ProMotion
