Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed, which are released by the occupiers in Ukraine, are most effectively destroyed by heavy machine guns. This was announced by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Naev, informs On April 2, on Facebook, the command of the OS of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Shahed – low-speed targets, and to defeat them it is necessary to use large-caliber machine guns, which are more effective. Accordingly, they, in order to avoid defeat and fulfill their task, constantly change routes. Sometimes they fly in circles, come in from one side, fly by, then come back again,” he said.
According to the commander of the OS of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enemy drones are constantly trying to evade the air defense systems of the Ukrainian army.
“Thanks to our international partners and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the saturation of the air defense system is constantly increasing. We understand that we will not be able to cover every square meter. But we are trying to place mobile fire groups and anti-aircraft defense systems at suitable distances so that we can cover and insure each other,” Naev explained.
He stressed that the enemy is trying to pick up the time when, in his opinion, the Ukrainians are tired, so the anti-aircraft gunners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in constant combat readiness, “they are constantly in cars and only on a signal turn on and go into combat readiness number one.”
“Practice shows that anti-aircraft gunners will shoot down enemy targets both day and night,” Naev said.
