“What I and my heroine have in common is that Olga is also leaving Ukraine because her mother is being persecuted and Olga is in danger. Now, no one has haunted me, but my life was in danger due to the situation, so we made such a decision that it would be better for me to leave, ”the girl said. From Kharkiv she came to Krakow. “It simply came to our notice then. We drove 22 hours before. Then we rode the bus all day, stood at the border, and finally had to drive in Poland for another 3 hours. There were no seats on the train, everyone hugging each other. Young children with mothers or grandmothers. “I drove alone because my mother lives in a town where she is still quiet and her grandmother is in Luhansk,” said Anastasia.

Welcomes the opportunity
Olga is her film debut. “The director of the film noticed me during the gymnastics competition. He then came to Ukraine, offering me to come to the roles for the lead role. I went. There were three castings in all. I passed them all and chose me. I didn’t think seriously about my career in cinema before. I watched the films, I thought about how they are made, how everything is done, I wanted to get to know them better, but I really didn’t expect to film myself, ”said the young actress.
One of the biggest challenges, according to Anastasia, was learning French. “It simply came to our notice then. In addition, the film required me to speak French, so I had to learn to understand what I was talking about, ”said Anastasia.
Her loved ones rejoiced at the opportunity. “Mom was happy, she didn’t expect it, Grandma was very proud of me. Supported me. “If there were any problems, if I was tired, they would say that I would suffer that everything would be fine, that I was a great one,” the girl smiled.
She is critical of her own work in the film. “I am self-critical, I find it difficult to look at myself. I am strict with myself. But it’s normal, there are moments I like and don’t like. Mom watched, said everything was fine. In any case, I am glad that I had such an opportunity, because it is something new in my life, ”said the young actress.
Her next plans are a trip to Zurich, where the film will be presented. After that, Anastasia will look for where to stay, where to rent a gym for training, where to get a job in the circus. “When I finished my career in gymnastics, I switched to the circus. I had to go to Germany, but the war broke out and we didn’t manage to sort out the paperwork. So I will stay in Switzerland for now. I have no plans with the film industry yet. I’m focused on sports and don’t have time for anyone else. In addition, I haven’t received any offers from the film world yet, “said Anastasia.

Filming processes were disrupted by a pandemic
The film “Olga” tells the story of a Ukrainian gymnast who has to experience feelings similar to what is happening in Ukraine at the moment. The dramatic action takes us back to the events in Maidan: while the 15-year-old prepares for the European Championships, fights for a ticket to the Olympics, there is a war going on at home in Ukraine.
Shocking images, a mother in danger, tears of friends – the girl has to discover the strength to win in sports, although thoughts revolve around the fate of the country and its dearest people.
The film was made by Swiss director Elie Grappe for a year and a half, and the filming took seven months, when the challenges of the pandemic disrupted the process. However, although Olga’s plot becomes even more relevant today than it did a year ago, when the film saw the light of day, Grappe assures that she does not think about it today. “It simply came to our notice then. Current events in Ukraine no longer change the meaning of the film. “I just want to believe that people watching the film today will realize that these are events in Maidan that are happening not now, but eight years ago,” the director commented.
