ReutersSouth China Morning Post (SCMP) According to et al., India, Korea, and Australia are invited as guest countries to the G7 summit in 2021, when the UK takes over as the chair.
The British Prime Minister’s Office described the invitation of the leaders of Korea, India and Australia as “to promote common interests and to convey the ambition of solving common challenges together with like-minded democratic countries.”

The invitation was made when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his visit to New Delhi, India in January next year. The Prime Minister visits India as part of the Indo-Pacific region’s engagement policy.
Due to Corona 19, the location and date of the summit meeting, whether to meet in person or to hold a teleconference have not been decided yet.
Earlier, former US President Trump conceived a reorganization theory to expand the G7 to the G11 or G12. However, there was no conclusion as Germany and the UK expressed their opposition to participation in Russia.
In particular, as Japan is the only Asian country to participate in the G7, Korea is reluctant to participate in the expansion and reorganization of the G7. At the time when the expansion and reorganization was on fire, it was reported that Japan had stepped forward and communicated to the US government that it was opposed to participation in Korea.
