The UK eases infection control measures: –

The British government confirms that most infection control restrictions in England will be lifted on 19 July.

– We have all longed to come here, and we all want this to be a one-way trip, says Minister of Health Sajid Javid, according to Sky News.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the reopening plans during a press conference on Monday night.

Unable to eradicate the virus

The reopening is taking place despite the fact that the infection is increasing in the country. For the sixth day in a row, the United Kingdom has registered over 30,000 cases of infection.

Monday wrote The Guardian that the British ministers have been told that they must prepare for one to two million cases of infection every week in the future.

– It will never be a perfect time to introduce this step because we simply can not eradicate the virus. The coronavirus does not disappear, whether we like it or not, says Javid.

Warns: – Not over!

Johnson has previously signaled that the next step in the reopening plan will mean that one can live as much as possible as before the pandemic. In popular opinion, the reopening date has therefore been named “Freedom Day”, “freedom day” in Norwegian.

– If we were to postpone this fourth step, for example to September or later, we would open up when the weather gets colder and the virus gets a more natural advantage. We believe this is the right time to open society, says Johnsen during the press conference,

However, he stresses that the relief does not mean that the pandemic is over.

– But we can not just go back to life as it was before covid. I can not say this enough: the pandemic is not over! The virus is still a threat. Caution is absolutely crucial in the reopening phase and we must all take responsibility so that we do not regret it.

The government’s chief scientific adviser, Patrick Vallance, warns that England will see a “very, very large increase” in cases of infection if the population does not follow the infection control measures that are continued after 19 July.

Continued strict border policy

Despite the fact that large parts of society open on 19 July, there will still be a strong focus on testing, infection detection and isolation.

The final phase of the UK’s reopening plan means that the bandage pad, the meter rule and the requirement for a home office will be abolished. Johnson still encourages people to continue working from home, even if it is no longer a requirement.

The Prime Minister states that England’s strict border policy will be continued. This means that everyone arriving in the UK from red countries is still subject to entry quarantine.
