According to the announcement, the New National Gallery has a valid and mandatory building permit. To start the investment, it is necessary to carry out the conditional public procurement procedure that has just started, based on the results the government can decide on the conditions to start the construction, they wrote.
The institution built on the site of the previously demolished Petőfi Hall will house the modern collection of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery.
According to the announcement, after the opening of the New National Gallery – in a unique way in the world – the most important national exhibition spaces of photography, ethnography, music and visual arts will be available in the City Park on one walking axis.

The Hungarian government remains committed to the construction of the New National Gallery in City Park, which is essential for the renewed City Park to become the most complex and attractive cultural quarter in Europe, and thus put it on the cultural map of Europe.
The plans for the new museum were selected by the jury in an international architectural design competition. The building is being realized based on the plans of the Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architecture office SANAA.
