In a historic achievement, the UAE Cycling Team was crowned this year’s edition of the Tour of France, by young Slovenian Taday Pogachar.
This famous raft has not seen such a turn in the lead since that date, as Bogachar managed to perform spectacularly on the Saturday stage, the penultimate twentieth stage of the most prestigious cycling race, to take the lead from his compatriot Primoz Roglic.
Roglic dominated most of the race, and crowning him was only a matter of time, but the UAE team rider turned all the scales and expectations.
Bogachar also became the youngest champion in the Tour of France since World War I, and as he celebrated his 22nd birthday, he became the youngest cyclist to score the yellow jersey since 1989.
Unusually, on the Tour of France, only 5,000 spectators were allowed on the Champs-Elysées as a precaution due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
