The United Arab Emirates became the first country in the region to announce the production of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The UAE said that as of November 26, 100% of the country’s residents received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and more than 90% of the population were fully vaccinated. It is reported by RussianEmirates.
It is reported that the UAE was one of the first in the world to begin vaccination with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. 21.8 million doses of the vaccine were used.
In December 2020, the country approved the American Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Later, the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, the British Oxford-AstraZeneca and the American Moderna were also approved. Sinopharm and Pfizer began to vaccinate children.
It is clarified that in March 2021, the UAE became the first country in the region to announce the start of production of a vaccine against COVID-19. Group 42 from Abu Dhabi has teamed up with Chinese company Sinopharm to develop Hayat-Vax vaccine.
Earlier it was reported that the committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommended to vaccinate from the coronavirus of children over the age of five with a drug manufactured by Pfizer / BioNTech.
