The UAE Football Association Approves New Board of Directors for 2023-2027

The General Assembly of the UAE Football Association approved the new Federation Board of Directors for the 2023-2027 electoral cycle, headed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, and Abdullah Al Junaibi, President of the Professional League, as First Vice President, and the membership of: Hisham Mohammed Al Zarouni, Hamad Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Omar Al Hajj. Al Muhairi, Yahya Khalaf Al Matroushi, Fahd Ismail Al Hosani, Amal Hassan Bushlakh, Ahmed Ali Al Mahboubi, Ibrahim Hassan Al Nimr. The members nominated by the President are: Obaid Salem Al Shamsi, Abdul Mohsen Fahd Al Dosari and Khalfan Juma Belhoul.

The electoral General Assembly meeting was held yesterday, at the Erth Hotel, in the Armed Forces Officers Club in the capital, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of representatives of 28 out of 31 clubs, officials of the National Olympic Committee, the General Sports Authority, sports councils, members of the General Assembly, representatives of the International and Asian Football Federations, and various media outlets.

The meeting began with the presentation of a film material that included pictures and names of the personalities who have assumed the presidency of the Football Association’s Board of Directors since its founding, and another video that dealt with the journey of the late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during his tenure as president of the Football Association, after which Mohammed Abdullah Hazzam Al Dhaheri, the Secretary, reviewed The General Assembly of the Federation, the agenda, calling for attendance and ensuring that a quorum is complete, while 3 members were approved to review the minutes, they are: Salem Howiden Al Ketbi (Al Dhaid Club), Ali Mubarak Al Abdouli (Al Orouba Club), and Khaled Rashid Al Hinai (Al Wahda Club).

An explanatory video was then shown about the progress of the electoral process, before Counselor Salem bin Bahyan Al Ameri, Chairman of the Elections Committee, announced the names of the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors for the 2023-2027 electoral cycle, amid applause from the audience.

Former members

The new Council of the Football Association, in addition to the First Vice President of the Football Association and President of the Professional League, Abdullah Al-Junaibi, included three members of the former Board of Directors of the Football Association: Hisham Al-Zarouni, Khalfan Juma Belhoul, and Amal Bouchlakh. The new council also included one member of the former Football Association Board of Directors, headed by Marwan bin Ghalita, who is Al-Taawoun Club’s candidate, Ahmed Ali Al-Mahboubi.

Abdul Mohsen Fahd Al Dosari is considered the oldest member to have previously worked in the Football Association, as he served as a member of the Football Association’s Board of Directors for the first time during the period from 1988 to 1989, while the new Football Association Board of Directors member, Salem Obaid Al Shamsi, previously worked as Vice President of the Football Association. During the era of the former Football Association Board of Directors, headed by Youssef Al Sarkal.

Distribution of positions

It is expected that the new Football Association, in its first meeting after officially announcing its election, will distribute administrative positions among its members, and Council member Salem Obaid Al Shamsi is considered the strongest candidate for the position of Second Vice President of the Federation.

Al-Junaibi: Everyone’s solidarity creates a suitable environment for development

In a speech delivered by Abdullah Al Junaibi, First Vice President of the Football Association and President of the Professional League, he conveyed to the attendees the greetings of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, President of the Federation, thanking the members of the General Assembly for their great confidence in the new council and those in charge of this meeting from the various work teams and committees.

Al-Junaibi began his speech by offering thanks and gratitude to our wise leadership for the continuous support for sports in general, and football in particular. This support is a great motivator that motivates us to work and give in developing our football and improving it in all aspects.

He said: “The solidarity of everyone creates an environment suitable for development, an environment that pushes Emirati football forward, in order to reach the desired goals and achieve achievements at the level of national teams and clubs.”

Al-Junaibi thanked all club departments, partners, sponsors and media for their constant and continuous cooperation, and for everything they provided during the past period, pointing out that the next stage requires more work and solidarity, and unifying efforts in the issue of planning and implementation, with the aim of reaching the best results.
