The UAE signed an agreement with 4 Dutch companies to explore ways to export green hydrogen to Europe, during the meetings of the 13th session of the association, which kicked off yesterday, Saturday, in Abu Dhabi, according to the Emirates News Agency, WAM.
According to the agency, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, announced the signing of the agreement with Dutch companies “Port of Amsterdam”, “SkyNRG”, “Ivos Amsterdam” and “Zenith Energy”.
The company also confirmed that the focus of the agreement will be on production in Abu Dhabi and export to the Netherlands, via the port of Amsterdam, pointing out that the exported green hydrogen will be delivered to major European sectors, such as: “sustainable aviation fuel, the steel industry, and the provision of fuel for sea freight ships.”
Masdar explained that the agreement includes work on “exploring a number of ways to transport green hydrogen, with a focus on liquid organic hydrogen and liquid hydrogen carriers.”
The International Renewable Energy Agency had predicted that the global green hydrogen market would reach $72 billion by 2030, while PwC estimated that hydrogen demand could range from 150 to 500 million metric tons annually by 2050. .
And last December, the Emirati company, Masdar, announced the launch of its new department dedicated to green hydrogen, as it aims to enhance its production capacity to reach 100 gigawatts of renewable energy, as well as produce one million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
