The United Arab Emirates called for moving from managing the crisis in Syria to resolving it by working to close the pages of the dispute through political communication, dialogue and diplomatic efforts, stressing the need to consider long-term solutions to address the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
The UAE said in a statement delivered by Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, the country’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, before the UN Security Council, yesterday, that the Syrian lands have become, over the course of 12 years of crisis, a theater for political and military events that have cast a shadow over the Syrian people, indicating that these The developments led to tragic results on all levels, including humanitarian, economic, social and security.
He said, “While the Council adopted at the beginning of this year the extension of the decision to introduce aid across the border to alleviate the suffering of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Syria, the deep wound cannot be healed by a bandage. These efforts, despite their importance, do not address the various aspects of the Syrian crisis, especially in the long run.”
The statement stressed the importance of adopting a rooted and temporary approach, and moving from managing the Syrian crisis to resolving it, and this includes working to close the pages of the dispute through political communication, dialogue and diplomatic efforts.
The statement also stressed the importance of finding Arab solutions to Arab crises in an effort to build a better future for the peoples of the region.

The statement reiterated the importance of getting out of the state of paralysis that afflicted the Constitutional Committee during the previous period, as it is the only platform for conducting a constructive national dialogue between Syrians, with Syrian leadership and ownership without dictates or external interference, with the aim of advancing the constitutional path.
Turning to the humanitarian situation, the statement considered that the adoption of the decision to extend the aid delivery mechanism across the border demonstrated the unity of the Council in placing the needs of the Syrian people above any political considerations, calling for work to find solutions that respect Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, including doubling the volume and pace of cross-border aid and projects early resuscitation.
He praised the efforts of the United Nations to increase aid, stressing the need to make more efforts in this regard.
The statement also expressed the country’s deep concern about the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the camps, especially during cold waves and harsh winters, at a time when basic infrastructure is not available, which threatens the lives of millions, including children and women.
He stressed the need to consider long-term solutions to address these conditions and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
