The U17 volleyball team will play its second game in the European Championship

The Latvian U17 men’s volleyball team in the Albanian capital Tirana will meet Russia in the second game of the European U17 Championship Final (EC). The match “Palati Sportit Farka Volley” hall will start when it will be in Latvia at 16.00.

The Latvian U17 national team beat its peers from Turkey in their first final tournament game on Saturday. The most productive with 26 points was Kristiāns Fokerots, 17 points for Armands Rokjāns, while Kristers Landzāns earned 12 points. For the Latvian U17 team, this was the first victory in history in the final tournament of the European Championship.

Meanwhile, Russia defeated Belgium 3-0 (25:23, 32:30, 25:22) in a fierce battle.

In the second round of the qualification competition, the Latvian national team, led by Mārcis Obrumans, beat Croatia 3-1 and France and Belarus 3-0. Russia defeated Romania, Estonia and Israel in three sets. In the two tournaments that took place in Latvia, this is the first final tournament, while the Russians took the fifth place in 2017, but two years later took the eighth position. Before the final tournament, the Latvian national team in the Slovenian city of Maribor lost to Austria twice – 1-3 and 0-3.

The final tournament in Albania will take place from July 10 to 18. After the match with Russia, the Latvian U-17 national team will fight with Albania, Belgium and Slovenia, respectively. In the first two U17 championships, the Latvian national team failed to enter the final tournament.
