The Frankfurter Museums-Gesellschaft’s “Museum Salon” series is entering its twelfth round with house concerts in private and commercial buildings in the Rhine-Main region

A Handel opera in a factory hall, songs by Edith Piaf in the penthouse with a view of the Alte Oper, an Italian opera evening in the living room or piano works by Bach played on a “Fender Rhodes”, an electromechanical piano, in an apartment in the Westend: The The twelfth edition of the Museum Salon once again opens the doors to twelve extraordinary house concerts in unusual locations in Frankfurt and the surrounding area.

“From baroque to classical, from classical song to opera and chanson, from crossover to experimental, everything is there again,” says Burkhard Bastuck, chairman of the Frankfurter Museums-Gesellschaft, at the presentation of the program in their office. Since the beginning he has been organizing the house concert series in Frankfurt and the surrounding area together with program manager Catharina Bürklin. This fall, in addition to international greats, they have once again invited many young artists from the region – with unusual programs across all genres that are rarely experienced in this form in concert halls.

There is a special highlight at the end of the museum salon: Thomas Guggeis, the new chief conductor of the museum concerts and new general music director of the Frankfurt Opera, will introduce himself on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. in the Bastuck House. In conversation with the host, he will talk about his career and vocation as a conductor as well as his plans for Frankfurt. Thomas Guggeis also sits down at the piano as a soloist and together with Burkhard Bastuck for the house concert.

At the start on Sunday, October 8th, 6 p.m., the Jerusalem Duo will play and give the audience a special sound experience in a private house in Königstein under the title “Somewhere over the Rainbow”: with harp and saxophone and a program with pieces from Harold Arlen to Antonio Vivaldi pays homage to the beauty of the rainbow.

Among many other musicians, the soprano Karolina Bengtsson, a new ensemble member of the Frankfurt Opera, the multi-award-winning percussionist Clara de Groote, the exceptional Swiss accordionist Viviane Chassot and the group Baroque Avenue with a fast-paced crossover jazz classic are also taking part -Program. As every year, an ensemble made up of scholarship holders from the Paul Hindemith Orchestra Academy, the young talent of the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, will be performing this year.

The fluid boundaries between genres are part of the salon’s trademark and, according to those responsible for the program, are part of the recipe for success of the house concert series. The hosts made a significant contribution to this, not only making their private rooms available, but also contributing to the fees with a donation and giving the guests a snack after the concert, emphasizes Catharina Bürklin. “This year too, the circle of hosts has expanded.” And next autumn, the museum society is again hoping for many private music fans and companies to take part.
