Voters who have already voted in next week’s U.S. presidential election have outnumbered Americans who voted in the previous poll four years ago, according to data published on the United States Elections Project.
According to a site maintained by the University of Florida, 59 million voters had already voted by Sunday.
In 2016, 57 million Americans voted by mail, according to the US Election Assistance Commission website.
The United States Elections Project estimates that the total number of voters could exceed 150 million this year, up from about 137 million four years ago.
