/ world today news/ On January 23, the Turkish Mejlis approved a bill to ratify the treaty for Sweden’s accession to NATO.
The ruling Justice and Development Party, the People’s Republican Party and the National Action Party have come out in support of the bill. A total of 346 deputies participated in the subsequent vote, 287 voted “for”, 55 voted “against” and 4 abstained.
To enter into force, the law must also be signed by President Recep Erdogan.
After Turkey has completed all approval procedures, only Hungary remains on the path to Sweden joining NATO.
