The Turkish Navy announced that they are starting a military exercise off the coast of Cyprus today, Turkish Haberturk TV reported, quoted by BTA.
The perimeter of the area in the Eastern Mediterranean where the maneuvers will take place from 16 to 20 October was announced in a maritime notification (NAVTEX message) issued on 13 October.
The TV station reminds that the US sent to the eastern Mediterranean Sea to support Israel the American aircraft carrier “Gerald R. Ford” together with its eight squadrons of combat and auxiliary aircraft and the cruiser “Normandy”, armed with precision-guided missiles, as well as the squadrons destroyers Thomas Hudner, Ramage, Carney and Roosevelt, also armed with precision-guided missiles. The battle group also includes attack and support aircraft.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the deployment of the strike group by the US, saying: “Mr. America, where is America, where is the Mediterranean, Israel, Palestine? What are you doing there? Shouldn’t it behoove a country like the United States to establish peace Or is it appropriate for her to go there with gasoline and a blower?” Erdogan asked.
