For more than 60 years, filmmakers have not recognized the truth.
Alexander Ptushko presented his adaptation of the epics about Sadko in 1952. The musical picture first fell in love at home, and then was shown in other countries.
In 1953, the film was shown in the United States after its triumph at the Venice Film Festival. And 9 years later, American viewers saw the picture “The Magic Journey of Sinbad”, which was mounted from the Soviet “Sadko”.
As it turned out, the American director Roger William Corman, who was known for many B-movies, decided to borrow Ptushko’s painting. He completely re-edited the film, renamed all the characters, removed Russian compositions and all the details that refer to Russian life. And he presented everything as the adventure of the sailor Sinbad, the hero of the Thousand and One Nights.
For many months, American viewers watched the fake and did not realize that they had already seen the original on the screens. And so far, the producers who created The Magic Journey of Sinbad have not admitted to stealing Sadko.
