1. Turning Insects Into Zombies
The Cordyceps fungus in the real world can indeed infect other living things to get out of control and eventually die, but that only happens to insects such as ants and others.
It is spread by airborne spores. In a matter of 7-10 days, infected insects will become out of control and die because of the fungus growing on the head.
Maker The Last of Us yaitu Neil Druckmann says he was inspired by the Cordyceps mushroom after watching a BBC nature documentary called Planet Earth which shows a dead insect infected with the fungus Cordyceps.
